Empowering our women to be financially independent
Project Utkarsh started when we realised that it is very important to work with the parents of our children especially the mothers to ensure a well-rounded growth.
Our objective was to build a good child-parent relationship and the importance of the education. We also worked with the mothers because we believe that bringing women from the underprivileged world into the main stream of society by giving them confidence and an identity of their own is very important.
SMILE conducts educational workshops, health awareness, expert lectures and entertainment to groom their personality and provide them an exposure to the outside world. Project Utkarsh also aims at training women who
are talented and eager to learn skills like mehendi, beauty courses, cooking, arts and crafts and many more. After
learning these skills, ‘The Income Generation Project’ of SMILE helps these women to sell products that they learned to make and therefore this gives them a sustainable income.
The women develop leadership skills and they gain a lot of confidence. Besides this, we also provide counselling and support to our women.
