Often women are the pillar of the family but are not aware of it. It is to these
women that SMILE gives a U-turn in their lives through informative talks, awareness
workshops, festival celebrations and income generation programmes. Women are given
vocational training in skills such as sewing, handicrafts, bridal mehendi, rangoli.
They are then trained to take bulk orders for very uniquely designed jute rangolis,
floating rangolis, diyas, candle holders, henna designing and catering. As far as
catering is concerned lectures on hygiene, nutritive value, presentation and taste
appeal is given to them.
They are taught budgeting, marketing and communication skills too. This equips them
with confidence and skills that lead to a steady source of income, thus making them
financially independent.

The personality of the women is further groomed by running a cultural project where
training in dance, drama, speech is imparted. This brings out the talents within
them and the women are also provided with opportunities to showcase their talents.
Counseling and emotional support is also provided to deal with their personal problems
in a healthy and effective manner.
SMILE caters to the deaf and mute girls of Vikas Vidyalaya School too
by running professional sewing classes for them. The students who pass out are motivated
by gifting them with brand new sewing machines. The girls learn designer wear clothes
and have already started taking orders successfully.
