In the year 1999 we started working with the senior citizens under the name of Project Umang. By conducting monthly programmes we found out the needs of the senior citizens. Gradually we formed groups and organized interactions, outings and made each group independent. In the year 2009 we extended our services to those senior citizens
who are often confined within the four walls of the house, wish
to spend their twilight years with lot of caring and sharing with others, SMILE
started mobile van service for immobile senior citizens which is a one of its kind
project where the senior citizens are taken to public gardens, places of worship
and recreational places. Workshops by expert resource persons are organized. Tea
party and light fun moments are given to the senior citizens. We organize workshops
on various topics and issues related to senior citizens.

The mobile van service is also extended to special children who miss out on opportunities
due to immobility. SMILE networks with institutions working for the special children
and adult handicap where SMILE's van is used to give exposure to them.
