Another major breakthrough has been initiation of SMILE Montessori School the first
and only Montessori school for slum children in Mumbai. It is a major achievement
as these children who generally never go to school before the age of 6 years are
enrolled into school at the most prime and important age of 2-3 years. Eighty-five
of our passed out children have secured admission in English medium schools and
have been absorbed in the sponsorship programme.

Our Montessori School is registered with the Association of Montessori International
(A.M.I.). SMILE recruits teachers who have completed the A.M.I course and uses teaching
apparatus that is approved by the A.M.I.
|

SMILE also celebrates various festivals in school, making the little children culturally
and socially aware. Coaching in dance too is imparted to the children as well as
giving them a chance to perform on stage thus giving them exposure at a very tender
age.
