Mrs. Anaxi Shah - Founder President of SMILE acquired Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in 1969 from Wilson College, Mumbai. She went on to complete her Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) in 1971 from Nirmala Niketan College of Social Work.
She started her career as a Medical Social Worker in the Department of Traumatic and Orthopaedic Surgery at the J.J. Group of Hospitals. Worked with Orphans and Mentally Challenged children at the Jairabhoy Pirbhoy Orphanage as a part time Social Worker. Worked in the capacity of a Counsellor at the Family Welfare Centre of Shri Jain Mahila Samaaj.

Staff Project Officer for Vatsalaya - A Project dedicated towards street children in Nirmala Niketan College of Social Work, Consulting Social Worker at SUPPORT, an organization working with Street children, mainly Drug Addicts and Project Mainstream.
She has also written and directed a film titled 'Asli Shaher' which depicts issues of runaway children.
She is the Governing Council member of INFA (Indian Federation of Ageing), Consulting faculty and resource person in various institutions - educational and social like Rajasthani Mahila Mandal, CCDT (Working with children of Prostitutes), SUPPORT (Victim of Aids), Prempuri Ashram and B.K.M. High School.
Today, having an expertise of 35 years in the field of social work, Mrs. Anaxi Shah actively runs SMILE (Society Moved to Instill Love with Empathy) founded in 1997, a registered charitable trust working for the lesser privileged children and women as the Honorary President. She also is the Director of 'Butterflies', a training course for aspiring voluntary social workers.
Putting into practice her counseling and social work skills, especially for children and women, she succeeds in changing the lives of all those she comes across.
